Enhancement in Photoluminescence on Mg Substitution in MgxSr1-xAl2O4: Eu, Nd

چکیده

Strontium aluminate, SrAl2O4 is well-known phosphor host material with spinel structure. Mg substituted compositions, MgxSr1-xAl2O4: Eu, Nd (with x= 0.05 0.25) were prepared by solid-state reaction method. Effect of Mg substitution on structure and photoluminescence was investigated. Prepared compositions were characterized for the phase and crystallinity by powder X-ray diffraction. The micro-structural investigations were carried out by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) technique. Photoluminescence characteristics show the intense emission for MgSrAl2O4:Eu , Nd in the green region ( max = 512 nm) with long persistence. The green emission corresponds to transitions from 4f 6 5d to 4f of Eu ion. PACS: 78.55.-m; 78.55.Hx.
